My name is Liz Connell or “Mrs C” as the kids in my classes called me. I’m an experienced primary school teacher starting an exciting new venture with my business “Mrs C Teaches Me”. I have set up a working classroom in my home where I will be offering: 1:1 tuition for KS1 and KS2 pupils, holding group ‘creative sessions’ and developing online video tutorials and resources to show parents and children fun and easy ways of learning key skills in reading, writing, maths and phonics.
I have loved working with children and parents over the last eleven years whilst teaching in large schools across Staffordshire and Warwickshire. I have a fun, hands-on approach to learning which focuses on the children doing in order to learn. Using a range of resources is really important particularly in maths where using practical apparatus can support children’s mathematical thinking.
My goal is to reach as many young people as possible, teaching them key skills on which to build their continued education. I know that each child is different and adapt my teaching accordingly finding the style that suits them.
I am motivated by the joy children experience when they grasp a new or challenging concept. The ‘I get it’ moments that show children they CAN do it.
For me, teaching is a work of heart. I care passionately about nurturing young minds and equipping them with the tools to be great!
I am really excited about meeting lots of young people and their families and sharing my passion for learning. Please contact me if you have any questions.
The classroom is in the home I share with my husband Chris and my cockapoo Oakley in Ufton, Leamington Spa. I have created a calm, creative space filled with wonderful resources to inspire and motivate your child.
Oakley (my fluffy friend) is extremely friendly but if you prefer, he can be in another room whilst we are learning.
